Three or four years ago I first saw some figures carved by a Mr. Peter Ekback, who lives in Lapland, Sweden, on the Character Carvers Face Book Page. I was totally astounded by the creativity, cleverness, and overall appeal of his creations. Some might call his techniques a little crude but I call them fantastic! Here, most of us set around and talk about all the knives and fancy tools we use to turn out the figures we produce while Mr. Ekback uses a hatchet, a hammer, a small electric saw and a sloyd knife who, at least in my estimation, turns out tiny figures which put us all to shame. Amazing!
Take a moment and type his name into the search area of the Caricature Carvers Face Book page mentioned above which will show you the many people who are brought to life through his skill with such a few very basic tools.

Peter’s stuff is great. Love his pieces.
I too marvel at Peter Elback’s carvings. Crude as they seem to many, artistically they express so much. It’s amazing what he conceives in his characters with his limited tools.
