Here’s a little slideshow of a carving I did quite some time ago back before we started making videos. The head of the figure was already carved but it will show how the bust body was completed, painted and mounted.
“Bitter Creek” Newcomb was a member of the Dalton gang but was lucky enough to not participate in the gang’s attempted bank holdup in Coffeeville, Kansas in 1892 where they were all gunned down. Newcomb met his maker from an overdose of lead poisoning a few months later in Pawnee, Indian Territory. All these actions took place not far from where Judy and I live. Matter of fact, we had our Chuckwagon set up and cookin’ right in front of the Coffeeville Bank a few years ago. I’ve included a photo of us with our Chuckwagon back then. The wagon now resides in the Woolaroc Museum not far from where all these events took place. I’ve also attached a couple photos of Bitter Creek, laid out and on display. Also one of the Bank in Coffeeville where the Dalton Boys met their match.
Comments always welcome and appreciated.
