Naturally, living in Oklahoma, Will Rogers has always been a favorite of mine. I’ve done quite a few carvings of the Cherokee Kid over the years and these three are the earliest. The standing version is part of the permanent collection in the Will Rogers Memorial in Claremore, OK. I did him as a young cowboy growing up on the Dog Iron ranch outside of the town of Oologah, OK. Years ago Judy and I had our Chuckwagon set up on the ranch cooking beans, biscuits, and pies for the visitors.
The bust carving of Will is part of my permanent collection. All were done in 2007.
