Believe it or not, here is a NEW carving I’ve been working on! And yes….it’s been a struggle to find the time to get this far! Springtime around here seems to be nothing but chores, and this year you can add close calls from a couple of Tornadoes into the mix! Thankfully, with the advent of Summer, things will quiet down and the twister threats will recede as the heat arrives.
I really like doing figures wrapped with robes as they give me a platform to do some creative painting. Horses will be featured to amplify the chosen name of the piece and no…..he’s not cross eyed! The burned lines just give him that appearance. Once painted he will be more focused!
I hope you like him so far. As always, your comments are welcome.
Always an inspiration, especially the ol cowboys.
I wa raised by one of those crusty ol cowboys salt of the earth. Your carvings remind of those guys make me smile.
Thanks for sharing
Thanks for your comment Jerry. Yes, you just can’t beat lines on the face of a weathered wrangler.
…as always, another masterpiece. Love it!
Thanks for your comment Keven.
Lynn, as always a pleasure to see your work and glad you’ve found time to get back to the carving table. I was immediately struck by the face on this one. Not your typical shaped face. This fellow looks to to be very thin as in an elderly individual. Was this intentional?
Thanks for the comment! Well, I had to go back and look at the figure again to see if he looks aged as you say. I’d agree! While I didn’t plan it that way he does have a gaunt look about him. If I had planned to add some age to him I would have carved the jaw line a lot thinner than it is. Whatever, thanks for your observation! I will make a note of it and in a future figure will try to add some years to the figure.
He is awesome sir! Look forward to his completion. I don’t know what next on videos ,but a native American headdress would love to see that series!!
