Carving a Caricature Horse Head – Part 1

Carving a Caricature Horse Head – Part 1

As the New Year starts tomorrow, I thought maybe you would be ready for something NEW.  Years before we started posting videos, I took individual photos of the pieces  which showed the progression when carving a character.  So, going back quite a few years, here is one which might be interesting to start with.  Now, if you decide to try this, just remember you will have to follow the pictures from the last to the first, as that’s the way I uploaded them.  The one thing that you might want but that I can’t give, is an individual description of what’s taking place in each picture.  I just don’t have time to do that. Sorry!  However, I think the pictures pretty well show what’s going on.  I’ve included some reference pictures of my old horse Boomer as something you can refer to when capturing the actual anatomy of a horse.  The pictures are pretty small so if you want them larger just hold down the Control Key on your keyboard and spin your Mouse’s wheel.

Please let me know what your thoughts are, I always enjoy hearing from you.  Good luck.  Oh….Happy New Year!

Lynn I saved this stuff way back when you had to post individual pictures. I always loved your posts and give credit to you for getting me on track with my carving. Thank you for all you have done for the carving community. Arnie
