Will Rogers – The Cherokee Kid

Will Rogers – The Cherokee Kid

I can’t remember whether photos of this carving have ever been published.  I think I did this piece back in 1997.  I still have it as I think it’s a great example of my best work.  I love the motion in the piece from the rope in his hand to the movement of the neckerchief.  As he is spinning his rope I carved the lower part of the carving so it spins around with him.  The rope trick is called “The Wedding Ring”.  Believe it or not I could manage that feat years ago but probably not now.  Maybe someday I can convince some museum to accept this piece as part of their collection.  Until then he will continue to reside in my Gallery.

Comments welcome.

I might be a little man in a big world but on our 30 acres I'm the one in charge when the wife's not around!
