Sly Fox

Sly Fox

As I normally do on Tuesday afternoon, down at the Grove Senior center, I carve heads.  This is the latest one.  I don’t really plan on what to carve other than it’s going to be a cowboy or a Native American.  I’ll cut out a generic head shape before I go and let it go from there.  Considering that it’s pretty useless to try and concentrate too hard while jokes are being told along with any new regional gossip, but, amazingly miracles do occasionally happen!  I think this is one of those.

I’m looking forward to painting him as I hope to add a little war paint along with some pictographic details on the robe.  You know me…..always looking for new ways to add more details!

Anyway, I hope you like what’s happened so far and your comments are always welcome.  You never know…….you might just get a chance to add this one to your collection.  We’ll see.

I might be a little man in a big world but on our 30 acres I'm the one in charge when the wife's not around!

I would like some help on craving an arm bent at the elbow. Maybe like holding a cup of coffee or a pipe. I am not sure how the wood grain should run to have the best strength. Thank you so much for what you and Judy do. You are very inspiring.

I really like the way he is looking.

Magnificent. I do believe that your ‘always looking for new ways to add more details’ separates your work from others. I love the attention to detail and how in your videos you explain and map pictures to the details on your work. Going over cheekbone structure and how/why you make your cuts the way you do. Very entertaining and the image above is indeed one of your ‘amazing miracles’.

    Thank you for sharing, Alvin.
