Good grief! I can’t believe it’s been 2 months since my last post. While I’m a little embarrassed for the absence, there were good reasons for it but I won’t list them all here. Let me just say I will endeavor to do a better job to keep you up to date on what’s happening here at Out West.
In the photo above you can see that I haven’t completely put the tools down. There is a Chuckwagon Cook that is waiting for some design work on his apron. Next to him is a new Indian with a Beartooth necklace that lacks some feathers and texturing, and lastly, a Mexican Bandido still under the knife. So, there should be more posts coming on those figures.
One thing I will mention that seems to be a major reason I’ve slowed down in posting is…I’m getting old! Toby Keith, my favorite country music singer, sums my predicament perfectly in his song “I ain’t as good as I once was- But I’m as good once as I ever was!” I can still turn out a decent piece of work but it now takes me quite a while to complete the job. Unfortunately, age is one hurdle we all face .
So, I hope you will continue to stick with me even though things might take a little longer.
Your comments are welcome, they always are. Here’s Toby!

Your work will never get old it will transcend

We’re all gettin’ older and slowing down…..but we do have a few more years in us. And we can get things done eventually. that’s the challenge.
Take care & be well.
Long time fan of yours. Hope all is well, post when you’re able too.
Take care and Merry Christmas
To you all.
Take your time, so the rope won’t break. Again excellent work, looking forward to future work,
Lynn, I was inquiring if it s possible to get the pattern for the HORSE used in horse for sail..
Great to see a post from you and I love the picture, a peek into the progression of a Master carver. Here is wishing you and Judy the best of the Holiday season…..
I have to say getting old is not for the faint of hearts…..
Debbie
Thanks for posting, you have the best videos I’ve ever seen that teach carving beyond the basics.
I am an old timer also. I got interested in carving in 1996. I carved a little and stop until 2022 and carved Santa faces for all of my greats (8) and my greats (4 at the time). That’s when I found your videos and i have been deeply impressed with your skill and ease you have when you carve and give instructions on carving. Please tell Judy she does a very fine job keeping your head out of the frame. Love watching you and listening.
Lynn, I only started following you last year and I am astonished at the volume of pieces you have created and all with great attention to detail. All the best in 2024 to you and Judy and keep the work flowing, Love it.
