While this figure turned out alright I guess, it’s not one of my best. The nose is way too big and the wrinkles are just to much for a small figure. As for the painting, the darkness of the eyes and the black mustache seem to overpower everything. I like the sombrero, especially the detail on the hat band. The serape is ok but I could have done a lot better. The walnut base is the most positive feature of the piece. The figure seems to float free above it which I really like. A good base can make a mediocre carving look a lot better.
