“Darn, I Dropped The Remote!”

“Darn, I Dropped The Remote!”

I’ve carved a lot of what I consider Classic carvings over the years and this one is one of those.  I say Classic because I think it captures the best of my carving and also displays a great example of what some might say is my twisted attempt at humor.  Looking at that carving of a poor horse tied up next to the Ranch’s outhouse, waiting on his rider busy inside, to me there is just no way you can’t smile at the story being told.  The addition of the Dish satellite dish only amplifies the humor not to mention the accompanying necessary electrical service.  We displayed this piece at the Red Steagall Chuckwagon event in Fort Worth, TX back in 2007.  We had set up our display in the old Mule Barns across from the Coliseum.  It was gone before the show even started.  While I’ve always followed western painter Charles Russell’s advice of having raised my children to leave home, I was sad to say goodbye to that one.

I might be a little man in a big world but on our 30 acres I'm the one in charge when the wife's not around!
