Lots of Top Hands around the ranch! Again, the coloring on the horse it perfect. Reminds me Matt Dillion’s ride. I’ve found the secret to painting horses is to make sure your figure remains damp and to use your index finger to blend the colors together. Sure, you can use a brush but that finger works a lot better. Works on the chaps too. I always paint the very bottom of the chaps a much darker color as they would drag through the dirt or mud. And just as important…lighter on the knees which receive heavier wear. Of course the cowboy’s shirt also gets the same treatment as the garments wear, i.e., elbows and stomach at the belt line. Doing those things will really make your carvings sparkle and catch the eye of a prospective collector.
Comments welcome.
