These two wranglers were carved back in the 2007’s. I’m sure they received a brass name plate but I can’t remember what they said or which was which. I was carving pretty steady back then. Nice looking little figures with the great looking Horseshoe bases. Another thing that’s interesting with these two is that you can see that I was in the process of finally opening the characters eyes. Not by much but it does make a change. Great looking hats and the ears were not flopped over. I just don’t think Cowboys pulled their hats down so low that the ears were bent over. Maybe in a storm or strong wind but in this case. Also, they both smoked as most did during the period that I carve. A well known carving magazine wanted me to do an article back then but requested that I remove the cigarettes. I passed up on that opportunity as I didn’t want to delete a classic detail. Do I now regret it? Not a bit. I like my boys just the way their are….warts and all. We don’t do “woke” around here!
Hope you like them too. Comments welcome as always.
