Distant Horizons – Major Repair

Distant Horizons – Major Repair

Due to some major damage during a move, it was necessary to carve this young lady a new head.  In a way I’m glad as I never really was satisfied with the original one.  So, after some effort to carve off the old without damaging the body I think the carving ended up much better than it was originally!  She stands about 14″ with the walnut base.  Once painted she should be welcomed back into the tribe.

Comments welcome.

I might be a little man in a big world but on our 30 acres I'm the one in charge when the wife's not around!

That is a nice head and fit, Lynn. Do you have a photo of the original? How long ago was it carved?
Have you ever revised an old carving that wasn’t in need of repair?
