Here’s my latest creation. While he turned out great with lots of character and paint, I spent quite some time trying to come up with a name for this scoundrel, but reflecting back on his actions at the last rendezvous, Scalawag seems to be a perfect fit. Some of the other words that I picked up were: fraud, Heel, Lowlife, miscreant, reprobate, swindler….I think you get the idea. Card cheat was another moniker that fits his reputation. At least he was fun to carve and paint. However, the other residents over in the Gallery really gave me the evil eye when I brought him over. Hopefully, he’ll leave soon before there’s trouble. Comments welcome as always.
With this one, all the spaces in the Out West Gallery have finally been filled. It’s taken quite a while for that to happen due to my age catching up with me along with a case of the dreaded AFIB which has almost chained me down to my recliner. But there’s hope in the future as I’m soon having some major tune-up done to the ticker that should cure that problem….please God! To be able to get back to fixing fence, plugging a leaky pond, field mowing, and the other joys of ranching not to mention CARVING will be great!
One more thing…… My latest wood order from Heineke Wood Supply was not anywhere as soft and easily carved at it was in the past. I really hate to say that as I’ve been their customer for at least 25 years. As a result I recently decided to try another supplier and settled on Moore Carving Wood Supply. Success! Their wood was soft as it should be and Old Reliable was happy once more. Here’s a link to their site: .https://www.moorecarvingwoodsupply.com/ Randy and Pat Moore are good friends. You might consider them the next time you need to resupply. No one wants to carve hard wood!
Until next time, all the best!
Very nice piece Lynn !
Nice carving Lynn but I have to say the hat seem to be sitting a little high…sorry about your troubles, it that time of life, I know I have mine, just had a shot in my lower back. Hope all goes well!!
I mentioned that about Heineke wood one time on FaceBook and boy they let me have it…..
Happy Holidays to you and Judy.
