Looking Back!

I’m still trying to figure out this new Blog format they’ve stuck me with. So while I do that I thought maybe I would jump in the Wayback machine and pull up some photos of carvings you might not have seen. So let’s start with this one.

I titled this piece “Global Warming”! Pretty easy to see why. Out there in that Montana Line Cabin in the middle of February, having a nice fire burning in the potbelly is about as good as it gets on an icy morning. He’s got his flap open to make sure all the important parts get the full benefit. Even better….after “things” are toasty there’s a cup of Arbuckles hot and ready from the pot on the stove.

I really enjoy creating this type of scene. It tells a story of the Old West no matter how small it might be. I think if more carvers would set aside their Elves, Gnomes, and Santas and stretch their talents to try something a little different their enjoyment in woodcarving would increase greatly just as mine has over the years. We have plenty of the old styles and most of us don’t live in the Ozarks. There are still lots of stories out there that need to be carved that require new characters just waiting to have theirs told.

Anyway, it’s nice to be back on the Blog even though it’s a hard, new learning experience.

I might be a little man in a big world but on our 30 acres I'm the one in charge when the wife's not around!
