Montana Pete

Believe it or not….I actually finished a new carving!! The story behind this one came about during a discussion about Cowboy hats at our Tuesday carving meeting. I’ve always liked the Montana Peak style which was popular in the Old West and has since been adopted by many Highway Patrols and the Boy Scouts. Other than those two groups this style seldom if ever, is seen on today’s cowboys. Everyone seems to prefer the Cattleman’s Crease or Open Road style. BORING!!! Give me a Montana Peak, a Gus or a Boss of The Plains style which shows a little history up there where your bald spot is. Woodrow, Gus, or even Newt wouldn’t be caught dead wearing what a modern day Dude or Drugstore Cowboy would sport. While Judy and I no longer saddle up anymore, when we did we each finished the look with our well worn Gus’s.

Anyway, I hope you like the new guy. Your comments are always appreciated.

I might be a little man in a big world but on our 30 acres I'm the one in charge when the wife's not around!

It’s a fine piece Lynn! Is that a copper rivet threw the base ? Glad your at a place ,where you’re able to back at it. Yours and Judy’s mounts are beautiful as well!

Thanks Jeff. That’s just a wooden plug that hides the screw and dowel that holds it to the base. Thanks for asking.

This is a great piece Lynn. Glad to see you are back at the bench
